Efficient workflow for better patient care /
Versatility for clinical applications in cardiac and peripheral regions

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of its presence in Europe, Shimadzu emphasizes its Excellence in Science approach through presenting a new cross-over angiography system: the Trinias series unity edition. It underlines Shimadzu’s market position as a leading manufacturer of diagnostic imaging systems. Trinias unity edition with 10 different ceiling- or floor-mounted, as single- or bi-plane models supports interventions in all regions of the body. “Unity” stands for “Unlimited Intelligent Technology” and covers cardiac, neurological, abdominal and peripheral regions by implementing cutting-edge image-processing technology which fully communicates with the multi-functional examination table to promote low radiation exposure and even more qualified device visualization.

Trinias unity edition improves the interaction of hardware and software.

This is reflected in

  • the new image-processing technology supporting highly complex interventions
  • the multi-functional examination table allowing flexible positioning via the tilting function
  • the configurable touch panel to support every application.

SCORE Imaging, SMART Design and SMILE Concept are the most important software and hardware elements of this cross-disciplinary digital angiography system. The attractive new color design of unity edition endorses Shimadzu’s objective of creating reliability and safety for both patients and users.

Background to the development

Angiography systems are X-ray imaging systems used in the interventional treatment of patients with angina pectoris or cardiac infarctions via a catheter. Recently, this method has attracted increased attention as the intervention is far less invasive than a surgical treatment. The accelerated development has been reflected in the continuous downsizing of medical devices used and their qualification as well as a reduction in the use of contrast agents. Meanwhile, it has become an established method of treatment.

Supports applications for all regions of the body

Worldwide, this clinical trend raises the expectation for angiography systems combining low radiation exposure with high image quality, covering several anatomical regions and supporting various treatments and diagnostic examinations using different devices. Shimadzu aims at reducing any negative impact on patients and examiners, taking into account the whole body, like cardiac , neuronal, abdominal and peripheral regions.

The specific properties are:

  1. Real-time image-processing technologies for a more efficient workflow and to support better patient care
The “Flex-APS” optimization software for artifact reduction in real-time automatically corrects any pixel movement during DSA acquisition if the image of the vessel deviates from the live image acquired by contrast imaging. Additionally, the new “SCORE Chase” application shows the entire peripheral region in one image by automatically stitching together the individual images without delay. Real-time image processing is expected to increase treatment safety and to shorten the length of examinations.
  2. Communication with multi-functional examination table and expansion of the product range
Communication with the multi-functional patient table facilitates flexible table positioning via the tilting function and supports different commands, such as switching or selection of the displayed image, which can be selected via a customizable touch-panel console on the side of the table. Trinias unity edition can also be equipped with a 16x12 inch dynamic detector effectively covering large body parts, like abdominal or peripheral regions.
